9/17/2007 — XYEF awarded Educational Society Exploration Grants to three groups who went to provinces of Xinjiang, Yunnan and Neimenggu. These webpages highlight their activities and achievements through photos and descriptions in Chinese.

9/11/2007 — XYEF received donations from Liu Lei, who received SHA assistantship in 2005. In his most difficult times, the XYEF has provided timely support to enable him to continue his studies. After merely two months after Liu's graduation, he donated part of his salaries to XYEF. He expressed wishes to continue to contribute to the foundation, "I will put this money to help needy students to help them complete their college education."

6/27/2007 — XYEF president Dr. Huipin Zhang visited Beijing Normal University and met with students. Students actively put forward many valuable suggestions and expressed support and appreciation for the work of the foundation. Dr. Zhang expressed that these suggestions will be used to improve XYEF's future work. The meeting lasted about two hours, after which everyone joined for a photo memory.

6/23/2007 — The second board meeting in 2007 was held in Atlanta. Participating members discussed the 2007 social practice activities. Based on "XYEF project application guidelines", the board selected three teams to go to the provinces of Xinjiang, Neimenggu and Yunnan from six applications. This approval particularly emphasizes on the efficient use of funds, well planning, and activities in minority areas.

6/16/2007 — XYEF board member Mingjie Hu published an article "The longing of the heart" to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the establishment of the foundation.

4/5/2007 — Ms. Lois G. Lerner, Director of Exempt Organizations, Internal Revenue Service, Department of The treasury wrote to notify Xie Yu Education Foundation that it has been continued classified as an organization exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In other words, the permanent status of Xie Yu Education Foundation as public charity is approved.

6/24/2006 — The second 2006 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. The board discussed many issues among which the most important was how to imporve the Educational Society Exploration Grant (ESEG) program. The board also approved to sponsor under ESEG three groups of twenty students who would perform society explorations in Fujian, Anhui and Xinjiang for more than a month, accumulatively, in this summer.

4/22/2006 — The first 2006 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. The board voted and elected Huipin Zhang to be Chairman and CEO; Song Guo CFO; Cheng Li Secretary; Gang Feng Selection Committee Chairman; Hong Zhang new trustee. The board also discussed how to better help needy students.

12/7/2005 — Four individual awards and two group awards were given on in a ceremony held in BNU. A special hardship assistance was given earlier. Click here for detail.

8/27/2005 — The second 2005 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. The meeting approved the establishment of Special Hardship Assistance and raised award amount from $125 to $180 for the existing Student Financial Assistantship.

1/22/2005 — The first 2005 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. The meeting discussed and approved a cooperation matter between XYEF and Hometwon Education Foundation.

11/4/2004 — Four individual awards and two group awards were given on November 4, 2004 in a ceremony held in BNU. Click here for detail.

8/28/2004 — The second 2004 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. Among many issues discussed and voted, Cheng Li of Boston, MA and Gang Feng of Beijing, China were elected trustees. Mingjie Hu, Jiguang Bao, and Lin Mei were re-elected trustees upon fulfillment of two-year terms. Guanming Fang also fulfilled her two-year term and will serve as a legal counsel.

5/12/2004 — The Board accepted the resignation of Xiaogang Su.

3/20/2004 — The 2004 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. The meeting discussed a fund-raising campaign, 2004 award ceremony schedule, award selection criteria, and many other issues.

2/20/2004 — Huipin Zhang of San Jose, California was elected trustee.

9/22/2003 — Xiaogang Su of Orlando, Florida was elected trustees.

9/8/2003 — Five students received Student Financial Assistantship in an award giving ceremony held in Beijing Normal University. Click here for related documents.

4/10/2003 — The Board accepted the resignation of Yachen Lin.

3/15/2003 — The 2003 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. Among many issues discussed and voted, Xun Jiang, Song Guo, and Jie Ding were elected trustees.

2/18/2003 — Yachen Lin of Atlanta, Georgia was elected trustee.

1/23/2003 — Internal Revenue Service granted the Foundation temporary tax-exempt status for the period of 7/19/2002 —12/31/2006. After this period, IRS will grant the Foundation permanent status if we continue to meet the requirements.

12/2/2002 — Application for tax-exempt status was filed with Internal Revenue Service.

9/7/2002 — Bao Jiguang of Beijing, China was elected trustee and Chairman of Selection Committee. The board accepted the resignation of Chuang Peng.

8/17/2002 — The 2002 annual board meeting was held in the principal office. Among many issues discussed and voted, Guanming Fang of Atlanta, Georgia was elected trustee and Vice President of Legal Affairs.

7/5/2002 — Cathy Cox, the secretary of State and the Corporations Commissioner of the State of Georgia certified Xie Yu Education Foundation, Inc. as a duly incorporated domestic nonprofit corporation.

6/3/2002 — Xie Yu Education Foundation incorporated. The initial trustees were Mingjie Hu of Princeton, New Jersey, Chuang Peng of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lin Mei of Atlanta, Georgia.
