Question: Is my donation tax deductable?  
Answer: Yes, for US donors.  Xie Yu Education Foundation has a tax-exempt status approved by IRS under 501(c)(3), which waives the foundation's income tax and gives our donors tax deduction benefit.

Question: How do I keep track of my donation money?
Answer: We assign a sequence number to each donation according to the order in which it is received and let you know your number when we receive your donation.  You can check your donation in the donation list from password protected document section. You can also check our spendings in that section.  So you can get an idea on how your money is spent.
   
Question: Who are the targeted recipients of the awards?
Answer: The recipients of the Student Financial Assistantships will initially be BNU students who are experiencing financial difficulties, have scored 60 percentile or better in tests and exams in the most recent completed school year, are expected to achieve similar levels of accomplishment in the current school year and have satisfied other criteria established by the Board of Trustees.

The Educational Society Exploration Grants will initially be awarded to BNU students or faculty to enable them to participate in educational exploration activities for the purpose of furthering their knowledge and understanding of the society and the Chinese culture.  The Foundation reserves the right to review the plans for such exploration activities.

A recipient of Special Hardship Assistance must be a student whose financial difficulty may jeopardize the continuation of his/her college education.  The priority of consideration will be given to BNU students.  The Foundation will vigorously verify the financial situation of the applicants.
   
Question: How can one apply for awards?
Answer: If you are a student currently studying in BNU and meet the basic requirements, please fill out this form and follow the instructions in the form.

If you are a student or a faculty member planning to lead a group of BNU students on a society exploration activity, please fill out this form and follow the instructions in the form.

If you are a student and you think you have a reason to apply for the Special Hardship Assistance, please fill out this form and follow the instructions in the form.
   
Question: Is Xie Yu Education Foundation supported by employer matching programs? If yes, how does it work?
Answer: Yes. Since Xie Yu Education Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, it is supported by employer matching programs. As a matter of fact, we have successfully applied for three companies' matching programs and received gift checks. These are dollar-to-dollar matches.

If your employer has such a program, usually you can apply for a matching gift within six months of your donation. And the program usually offers dollar-to-dollar match. That means your donation could be doubled.

You can ask your Department of Human Resources for detailed information about your employer's matching gift program.
